Mull and Iona Vets Restructuring – Client Information Update

The Tobermory office on Dervaig Road is now closed. My sincere thanks go to the Reade family, Sgriobruadh, for the use of the building for the past four years.

Consultations and operations will continue to be carried out at our mobile clinic at Lagganulva Farm, Ulva Ferry, which has been our clinical base for over a year. Our opening hours are 9am-5pm Monday-Friday, and we are available for emergency care 24/7.

For routine or non-urgent enquiries and repeat prescription requests, please email contactmullandionavets@gmail.com where possible.

For more urgent / emergency cases, please call 01688 500139.

(Please refrain from contacting us via texts to my mobile / Messenger / WhatsApp unless in case of emergency as it is very difficult to keep track of messages on so many different platforms).

Please direct all written correspondence to: Lagganulva Farm, Ulva Ferry, Isle of Mull, PA73 6LT.

Medicines and repeat prescriptions can be picked up from Lagganulva, or from our new collection point at Aldersyde, Salen, or posted on request. As before, all efforts will be made to help with delivery of medicines to clients with transport difficulties.

We aim to provide a satellite clinic on the Ross of Mull once a month. Thanks to Alan and Janet Schofield, Fraoch Cottage, Fionnphort for the use of their premises as a pop-up clinic venue. Clients are encouraged to email contactmullandionavets@gmail.com to arrange an appointment.

Introduction of Covid-19-precautionary working protocols last year led to the vet surgeon team expanding to two full-time-equivalent vets. Many clients will already have met vets Jill Allen and Sophie Lamb, and we also hope from time to time to welcome back Carol Paterson, who has recently also taken on the role of OV at the Mull Abattoir.

This practice restructuring, with increased veterinary surgeon staffing, has resulted in the part-time role of practice veterinary nurse becoming redundant, which unfortunately means that Dot MacLean now leaves us. Many clients over the years will have had cause to be grateful for her care and expertise, and I am extremely thankful for her contribution to the work of the practice and wish her all the very best in the future.

Hannah Poulton has moved on to a new position and I would like to congratulate her and wish her all the best in her new employment, having been a great asset as a friendly voice on the phone and behind the desk as our part-time receptionist.

Helen MacKay
